Our Parish

The Mission of Christ the Servant Parish at Our Lady of Peace Church is to care for our acre of God’s world as a Community of Disciples that will be enabled, empowered and ennobled to proclaim the message that Jesus proclaimed - that God is in love with us.  We are also committed to the living legacy that has been handed down though the history of the two merged parishes, Our Lady of Peace and St. Paul's Canton.

The Gospel of Luke, Chapter 4: 18-19 provides us with the mission of Jesus. Jesus enters his  home town, and going to the synagogue reads from the Prophet Isaiah saying to the people:

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me; He has sent me to bring glad tidings to the poor, to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to captives and recovery of sight to the blind, and let the oppressed go free, and to proclaim a year of favor acceptable to the Lord.”

The mission and ministry of Jesus is encountered by us in each of the Gospels, and as lived out in the early Christian Community. The experience of the early Christian Community is reflected in the writings of Paul the Apostle to the Gentiles, and the other New Testament authors. Likewise, the mission and ministry of Jesus continue to be experienced in our life as Church, the Community of Disciples in our time and history. We do this as a Parish Community, knowing and doing what Jesus himself has empowered us to do through the Holy Spirit.

With this in mind, our lives in this Community of Disciples become a living sign to exemplify the life of Christ the Servant.

My prayer is that as you come to know us here at Christ the Servant, you will experience in our parish and school a welcoming family. We invite you to pray and celebrate with us, sharing in the enthusiasm and passion that comes with bringing the mission and ministry of Jesus to our acre of God’s world.
