Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
RCIA is designed for those wanting to find out more about the Church and for those High School and Adult Catholics who have not received the Sacrament of Confirmation.
The process for the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) will begin in the fall. This is an opportunity for those who are not Roman Catholic to discover more about the Church. This period of discernment, discussion, and of sharing will assist the candidate in exploring in a community context ones personal faith experience and assist in determining if the journey of faith can best be lived out within the Roman Catholic Church. Again, this is a time of searching, questioning and learning, and decision making.
Those individuals who have been baptized as Roman Catholics but have not been confirmed (High School and Adult) should attend these sessions. Confirmation will be administered at the Easter Vigil with the Candidates and Catechumens.
The RCIA team will be coordinated by our Director Peter Schafer, and our scheduling and communication coordinator Rosemarie Houser. Team members include a variety of instructors. Also sharing in the RCIA journey will be individuals who are continuing in their own faith journey and who will be companions with you in your own journey.
The RCIA process is not intended as adult education classe for those who are full members of the Church.
RCIA (The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) MENTORING PROCESS
In an effort to more effectively meet the variety of personal schedules of our Candidates within the RCIA, the process is designed to assist our families with varied schedules. We hope that it will enable our Candidates to explore their own faith journey and their call to the mission of God, here at Christ the Servant Parish.
Each Candidate will be guided by a mentor for the RCIA process.
The Candidate and Mentor will arrange to meet together once a week as their schedules permit.
Assigned readings, video's, and reflection questions will be posted on the Christ the Servant RCIA blog on the Friday before the coming week. These readings, videos, and reflection questions will provide the discussion topics for the weekly meeting between the Candidate and Mentor. Additionally, all Candidates and Mentors will have access to the blog to share reflections and questions, with the staff and pastor.
Every fourth (4) week all Candidates and Mentors will meet with the teaching staff and pastor for sharing insights, questions and reflections raised during the previous three (3) weeks. The session every fourth week (4) will ordinarlily be held on Monday evenings at 7:00 – 9:00 PM in Seton Hall.
Candidates will be sharing with their Mentor in the liturgical life, service outreach, educational, and parish life of Christ the Servant Parish – sharing as servants in God’s Mission.
“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. . You did not choose me but I chose you “
